Medicine & Science
I am a physician and scientist and professor in cellular and molecular biology working in the fields of cancer research and vascular biology.
My interests focus on how tumor cell behavior is regulated by the tumor microenvironment and how blood vessels may be involved.
Although my team has worked on several types of solid tumors (pancreatic carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and some of this work is still ongoing), the focus is now on brain tumors, particularly diffuse gliomas.
Philosophy
In addition to my scientific interests, I am nvolved in projects related to the philosophy and history of science. In particular, my interests lie in conceptual issues related to biology and cancer research, as well as ethical issues (e.g. the relationship between values and science).
Music
Finally, my interest in music is mainly oriented towards jazz and blues (Pat Martino, John McLaughlin, Eric Johnson...).
I'm a guitarist who plays both electric and acoustic instruments.
